Over 226.7 million people are suffering from hunger in Africa. Places such as Nigeria, Somalia, and South Sudan’s hunger crises are escalating day by day. This crisis is based on hunger and malnutrition. Due to malnutrition, children and infants in Africa face the set back of physical and mental development. Malnutrition also leads to the weakening of the immune system which allows for an increased chance of disease. Although Sub-Saharan Africa has many areas filled with fertile soil, factors such as continual increase of population growth, unfair trading structures, diseases, and armed conflicts prevent Africa to feed its people. By 2030, the United Nations plans to end hunger, and we can support the cause by donating to SOS Children’s Villages. We could also implement local food drives and donate them to food banks in Africa.
